“Emirates Water Foundation: Achievements and Contributions Towards Sustainable Water Solutions”

The Board of Trustees of the “Emirates Water Water” Foundation discussed the most prominent achievements of the “Emirates Water Water” during the first quarter of the current year 2023. The meeting was held in person and virtually under the chairmanship of His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, and in the presence of the members of the Council: His Excellency Fahd Abdul Rahman bin Sultan, Deputy Secretary General for the Development and International Cooperation Sector, Emirates Red Crescent Authority and Vice-Chairman of the Council, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Ali Murad, Associate Vice-President for Scientific Research, United Arab Emirates University, Dr. Aref Sultan Al-Hammadi, Executive Vice-President, Khalifa University, and Eng. Nasser Lootah, Executive Vice-President, Production Sector (Energy and Water) at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Engineer Waleed bin Salman, Executive Vice President, Business Development and Excellence Sector at Dubai Electricity and Water Authority, Mr. Mohammed Abdul Karim Al Shamsi, Acting Executive Director of the Emirates Water Foundation, and Mr. Humaid Al Hammadi, Acting Secretary of the Council.

The meeting shed light on the additional impetus and remarkable honor that the third cycle of the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Water Award received, as His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, may God protect him, received, in the presence of His Highness Sheikh Hamdan. Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, at the Zabeel Palace in Dubai, the 11 winners of the award. His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer stressed that the level of interest in the award reflects His Highness’s keenness to continue advancing the process of sustainable growth and achieving economic and social development for all mankind. His Excellency noted that receiving the award for entries from 56 countries around the world and the quality of innovations presented by companies, research centers, institutions and innovators confirms the role of the UAE as a stimulating platform for innovation, a destination for innovators and an incubator for creativity and innovators from all over the world.

His Excellency Al Tayer added: “We are working in “Suqia Emirates”, under the umbrella of the “Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives”, to consolidate the Emirati model of giving, which contributes effectively to finding innovative and sustainable solutions, programs and projects to the challenges facing afflicted and disadvantaged societies. We are also proud To be part of the large Emirati humanitarian team that enhances cooperation and mobilizes efforts to ensure a more sustainable and bright future for present and future generations.Since its establishment in March 2015 until the end of 2022, Suqia has positively affected more than 13.6 million people in 37 countries around the world. The Foundation intends to expand the scope of the positive impact by working with its strategic partners to implement new projects outside the country to help the affected communities that suffer from water scarcity.

During the meeting of the Board of Trustees of the “Emirates Watering” Foundation, the members of the Council spoke regarding the efforts of “Emirates Watering” to support relief efforts for those affected by earthquakes in the Syrian Arab Republic and the Turkish Republic, in cooperation with the Emirates Red Crescent Authority. The members of the Council praised the constructive participation of the UAE Water Water Volunteers in the event organized by the Emirates Red Crescent Authority in cooperation with Dubai Cares at the Dubai Expo City, to mobilize food and in-kind aid for those affected by the earthquake.

The members of the council also discussed the progress of the Foundation’s annual Ramadan campaign 2023 for the ninth year in a row to distribute water bottles throughout the blessed month of Ramadan to mosques and iftar tents for fasting people across the UAE, in cooperation with Mai Dubai and a number of local authorities. In addition, the meeting shed light on the Foundation’s successful participation in the 19th edition of the Dubai International Conference and Exhibition for Relief and Development (DIHAD), which brought together decision-makers from various local and international humanitarian actors with the aim of shedding light on humanitarian issues.
