The Venezuelan team defeated its Chilean counterpart on Monday with a score of 2-0 and achieved its first victory in the final hexagonal of the South American sub 17 that takes place in Ecuador.

La Vinotinto made a commitment with the need for a victory that would allow it to maintain its hopes of qualifying for the World Cup of the category that will be held this year in a venue to be defined.

Rai Hidalgo converted the first Venezuelan goal at minute 69 of the game, following a corner kick executed by David Martínez. At 84′ Enmanuel Meléndez shot from outside the area and the ball slipped into the Chilean goalkeeper’s angle for the 2-0 win at the Atahualpa stadium in Quito.

With this result, those led by the Mexican Ricardo Valiño accumulate three points in the qualifying table and will close the day in fourth place, which grants the last place in the World Cup.

The next game for La Vinotinto will be on Thursday the 20th when they face Paraguay at the Rodrigo Paz Delgado stadium. There the national team will have the opportunity to seal the pass to the universal fair, depending on what happens in the other commitments of that day, which will be the penultimate of the hexagonal.
