New York – Qena

Gold prices fell below the level of two thousand dollars an ounce today, amid pressure from the rise of the dollar and the rise in bond yields, while investors await the course of interest rates in the United States.

Spot gold fell 0.6 percent to $1,990.58 an ounce, following rising 0.6 percent earlier in the session, while US gold futures fell 0.6 percent to $2,003 an ounce.

The dollar index rose 0.6 percent, making gold priced in the US currency less attractive to buyers abroad, and Treasury yields rose to their highest levels in two weeks.

As for other precious metals, silver fell in spot transactions by 1.2 percent to $25.03 an ounce, while platinum increased by 0.5 percent to $1,050.14, as well as palladium, by 2.8 percent, to $1,544.81.
