Contrary to what many institutions think regarding the so-called “electoral ban”, seeing this stage as an opportunity to stop feeding their transparency portals or stop carrying out activities, the Institute for Transparency, Access to Public Information and Protection of Personal Data of the State of Mexico and Municipalities (INFOEM) points out that the transparency law must continue to be complied with so as not to be subject to sanctions.
The president commissioner of said institute, José Martínez Vilchis commented that it is in this electoral season, in which political parties and electoral institutes tend to increase their requests for public information.
“Given the electoral ban, it is not necessary to remove the information from the transparency platforms, on the contrary, the voter is interested in knowing more information regarding the parties and the electoral,” he said.
At the same time, he warned that those regulated entities that do not comply with the transparency law might be subject to enforcement measures such as warnings, estrangements or economic fines.
Statistics
According to the INFOEM portal, there are 204 requests for information that have so far been sent only to political parties. Morena is the one with the highest number of applications with 64, followed by the Institutional Revolutionary Party with 45, the National Action Party with 27 applications, the Citizen Movement 20, the Party of the Democratic Revolution 17, the Green Ecologist of Mexico 13, Nueva Alianza 9 and the Labor Party 9.
