Four faithful of the Good News International Church died of starvation in Kenya following following the instructions of their religious leader to fast and save themselves from an alleged “painful death in the world”, report local media. The victims spent several days without food or water in the village of Shakahola, in the Magarini constituency.
According to police reports, the agents went to the place following a complaint and found 15 people with signs of malnutrition, four of them in critical condition. However, the latter died before reaching the hospital.

“Ignorant citizens starved to death under the pretense of meeting Jesus following being brainwashed by a suspect, one Paul Mackenzie Nthenge, pastor of Good News International Church,” the police report read.
The suspect, who was a controversial televangelist, has been targeted by detectives for allegedly preaching a dangerous doctrine that encourages his followers to starve to get to heaven faster. Pastor Mackenzie was already arrested last month for the starvation deaths of two minors and was later released on bail.
Despite the fact that he was present at the scene of the crime when the police rescued the victims, the pastor was not arrested.
