Worshipers worship at a Nigerian church under attack on Easter


Ondo: A Christian church in Nigeria, which was destroyed by attackers on Pentecost Sunday last year, held a Holy Mass on Easter this year. The Holy Mass was held last Easter Sunday following the one-year-long restoration work was completed on the church that was destroyed by the attackers.

On June 5, 2022, St. Francis Xavier Owo Catholic Parish in Ondo Diocese, Nigeria was attacked. About 50 people were killed in this attack. The temple was completely destroyed. Hundreds of devotees came to St. Francis Xavier Ovo Catholic Church when the church was opened for believers following months of restoration work. Bishop Jude Ayodeji Arogundade presided over the rites.

Bishop Jude Ayodeji said in his message during the Mass that our faith remains our strength and may it help us deal with life’s problems and overcome everything that comes once morest us and the gospel of Christ.
