Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association and BM Tanner: “Neutrality is both a reminder and an order”

Vienna/St.Pölten (OTS) “The global crises, wars and challenges have left deep scars. Traces that have to be overcome so that Austria can continue to successfully and safely live up to its role model role and that the achievements of the past are preserved for the population and further steps towards further development are possible,” emphasized Federal Minister Klaudia Tanner, Farmer’s Union Chairman LH Deputy. Stephan Pernkopf and Director Paul Nemecek.

Pernkopf and Nemecek agree with Tanner on a common position on perpetual neutrality. All three politicians come from the Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association, the political home of Leopold Figl, whose intellectual legacy is still the foundation of the work of the Farmers’ Association today.

“Neutrality became more important due to the war and has served us as the foundation for the successful Austrian path for almost 70 years. Developed in difficult times, made for difficult times and implemented in Russia in April 1955 under the leadership of the former Chamber of Commerce, Foreign Minister and LH Leopold Figl,” emphasize the top politicians of the Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association.

Exactly these days 68 years ago, in the period from April 12 to 15, 1955, he achieved a breakthrough in the negotiations in Moscow. This ability to work together across all borders and his bridge building, which not only connected political opponents, but also created the bridge to a successful future.

“Together with the state treaty, neutrality was the basis for the reconstruction of Austria. As a minister and as a convinced farmer’s coordinator, neutrality as a successful project in Austria is not up for discussion,” Tanner affirmed the government’s position on neutrality.

“For the Lower Austrian Farmers’ Association, the anchoring of neutrality in the work program in Lower Austria is both a reminder and an order. Especially in these times, we will certainly never tire of standing up for them,” conclude Pernkopf and Nemecek.
