“We were just on our way home from flood action. We had been on the road since 6 a.m.,” says Anita Stummer. She led the operation on the A1 Westautobahn, for which the Enns fire brigade was alerted shortly following 6 p.m. on Saturday. A van loaded with veterinary products and animal feed was traveling on the A1 in the direction of Vienna when it started to burn near Enns. According to initial findings, the fire may have started in the engine compartment.
