If they appear here, they are dangerous

If bruises appear here, it can be dangerous

1. Head hematoma

A bruise on the face or in the upper part of the head should always be checked out by a doctor – no ifs or buts, because blows or bumps or even a fall on the head can lead to a brain injury in the worst case: Symptoms such as vomiting, dizziness or loss of consciousness is one medical treatment essential.

2. Abdominal or chest hematoma

Here, too, a doctor must be consulted immediately, because bruises on the abdomen or chest, i.e. bruises, can also have injured the internal organs. If the bruise grows quickly, this can also be a sign of a bleeding disorder or an injury to a larger blood vessel.

3. Many hematomas

If several bruises suddenly appear, possibly on the body, you should also have them examined in this case. The reason for this might be blood-thinning medication such as aspirin or heparin, because anticoagulants weaken blood clotting and can increase the risk of bruising. Cortisone and some antibiotics can also cause bruising all the time.

4. Hematomas on the joints

After a fall on the knee, a bruise can form due to the injury to bones, ligaments or joint capsules, but if the blood migrates from the surface of the skin into the body cavity, it can be dangerous. In what is known as hemarthrosis, blood collects in the joint. The bruise is usually accompanied by tenderness, swelling and a bluish discoloration of the affected joint and requires medical treatment.

5. Hematomas near the genitals

The bruise near the genitals can be caused by excessive exercise or even by having sex. If the bruise in this region does not heal within two to three weeks, it may be due to a sexually transmitted disease such as herpes, syphilis or gonorrhea.
