Sega Sammy Holdings is a Finnish company that handles the mobile game Angry Birds.We are nearing a deal to acquire Rovio Entertainment. This was confirmed by several people familiar with the matter.

If the talks go well, Sega might announce its acquisition of Rovio on Wednesday, according to the people, who asked not to be identified because the information is private.

A Sega spokesperson said the company has not finalized any proposals and that the company continues to explore the best ways to increase corporate value. Rovio representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment by phone or email outside of normal business hours.

The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) previously reported that Sega was nearing an agreement to acquire Rovio for $1 billion.
