The businessman’s daughter, whose life will be told in a Netflix production next September, denounces the project.
carpet, the Netflix mini-series retracing the career of the famous businessman, is controversial. Sophie Tapie, daughter of the latter, strongly criticized the project on social networks on Friday.
In question, in particular, the use of the word “scammer” in the presentation text of the production on Instagram: “businessman, politician, scammer, boss of Olympique de Marseille, singer …”, lists the platform.
“shocked”
“‘Tapie the scammer’. Knowing that he had verbalized before his death that he was once morest this series … Like what disrespect has no limit”, indignant Sophie Tapie on Instagram. A message that she has shared many times in story.
“I am all the more shocked that the series is at the initiative of Tristan Seguela, a ‘friendly’ family of the Tapies for 40 years…”, she added. Netflix clarified for its part that the mini-series would be “inspired by his life”.
Dominique Tapie, his widow, also criticized this project on RTL last month: “The person who made this series came to see Bernard and he said to him ‘No, if someone has to tell my story, it will be my son Laurent’. And there you have it… No comment”.
“Borrowing my name is a bit heavy”
During his lifetime, Bernard Tapie had also expressed his dissatisfaction in Be Matin in 2021: “Doing it without asking me for my agreement in principle is not very good. There are things that we don’t do. […] Borrowing my name is a bit heavy.”
For its screenwriter Olivier Demangel (November), carpet “will be a biopic regarding the man, freer than a biopic regarding the facts, with a very strong element of subjectivity. It’s our look at his trajectory. As soon as the idea came up, I informed him because that I thought it was good to do it. But we didn’t seek his approval or his opinion.”
Laurent Lafitte plays Bernard Tapie in this mini-series created by Tristan Séguéla and Olivier Demangel. Fabrice Luchini, Joséphine Japy, Camille Chamoux or even Ophelia Kolb complete the cast. Broadcast scheduled for September 13.
