This agreement has been reached due to recent weapons tests by the country led by Kim Jong Un, including the ‘Hwasongpo-18’ intercontinental ballistic missile, which uses solid fuel and whose launch has been condemned by Japan, South Korea and the United States.
Last Friday the Armed Forces of the United States and South Korea launched a series of joint military maneuvers, which include the use of fighters and bombers in response to this launch.
The three countries have held consultations on resuming training programs at the trilateral level, such as maritime interception and anti-piracy operations, according to the South Korean news agency Yonhap.
The announcement of the joint maneuvers between these countries represents a breakthrough in relations between Japan and South Korea, which have a historic dispute over the Japanese slave policy once morest the South Korean population during World War II.
Both countries advanced in their bilateral relations last March following an agreement to accelerate and deepen the exchange of military intelligence as an additional protection measure once morest North Korean ballistic tests.
