Foreign currency deposits of the population and legal entities in Belarusian banks in March 2023 increased by $0.1858 billion or 1.79% and amounted to $10.5811 billion as of April 1.
In March, foreign currency deposits increased by $185.8 million, or 1.79%, following falling by $259.3 million in February, according to a report by the National Bank of Belarus.
Since the beginning of the year, the population has withdrawn foreign currency deposits from banks in the amount of $21.7 million, or 0.46%. Foreign currency deposits of the population as of April 1, 2023 amounted to $4.6962 billion, as of January 1, this figure was $4.7179 billion. In March, individuals increased deposits in banks by $10.2 million, or 0.22%.
Including fixed-term deposits of individuals since the beginning of the year decreased by $105.3 million or 2.94% and amounted to $3.4793 billion as of April 1, 2023. In March, fixed-term foreign currency deposits of the population decreased by $18.1 million or 0.52 %.
Transferable deposits of individuals have grown by $83.6 million or 7.38% since the beginning of the year. As of April 1, 2023, this figure amounted to $1,216.9 million. In March, transferable deposits increased by $28.3 million, or 2.38%.
Term deposits of legal entities since the beginning of the year decreased by $106.4 million, or 3.99%, and amounted to $2.5592 billion as of April 1, 2023. In March, term foreign currency deposits of legal entities decreased by $15.6 million, or 0.60%.
