The National Institute of Migration (INM) reported that the migrants were abandoned in the back of a trailer located in the Villahermosa-Coatzacoalcos highwayat the height of the town of Nuevo TeapaVeracruz.
According to the INM, the rescue took place near midnight this April 12 with the help of elements of the National Guard (GN).

When doing a review, the GN troops heard cries for help from men and women coming from the back of the trailer.
The uniformed officers opened the box and found adults and minors who were crowded together. They immediately provided help and took the 209 migrants out.
One of the undocumented immigrants presented symptoms of suffocation, for which reason the Beta Acayucan Group of the INM he was transferred to a nearby hospital.
The migrants come from the countries of Guatemala, Ecuador, El Salvador and Honduras. Of the 209 migrants, 25 are minors of Guatemalan origin, and they were not accompanied by any relatives.

The 25 minors were placed under the guardianship of the System for Comprehensive Development for the Family (DIF) of Veracruz.
