After waiting three weeks for the concerned authorities to move, former California governor Arnold Schwarzenegger (75 years old) repaired a street in his neighborhood, in Los Angeles, by himself. The star of the movie “The Exterminator” posted a video recording on his account, working with a number of people and pouring cement into a hole to close it.
Schwarzenegger, the 38th governor of California, between 2003 and 2011, wrote on his website, “Today, following the whole neighborhood was fed up with this huge pothole that had been causing damage to cars and bicycles for several weeks, my team and I decided to fix it. And I always say, let’s not just complain, let’s do it ourselves. And that is what I did.” And a neighbor appeared in the video, who stopped her car at the place to thank him. Schwarzenegger replied, “Hey there, we have to do things ourselves. It is madness to wait three weeks for no one to come and fix this hole.’
Schwarzenegger’s spokesman, Daniel Kitchell, said that residents of the neighborhood have submitted many requests to repair this hole, and others in the area, following the roads were damaged by the recent tornadoes.
The city council has received regarding 20,000 applications to repair these potholes since the end of last year. Mayor Karen Bass announced a plan last week to address the unprecedented damage that hit the streets of Los Angeles this past winter. “City workers are doing their best, but they haven’t been able to fix all the potholes we’ve received orders for yet, but we can’t do work all over the city at the same time,” Bass said.
