Nicolas Ullens’ statements regarding the killing of Myriam Ullens during his interrogation

Nicolas Ullens, aged 57, shot his stepmother, Baroness Myriam Ullens, who was 70 years old, on March 29. He fired six shots, and four hit her, leading to her death. This happened in front of her home in Ohain, Lasne, and his father, Baron Guy Ullens, was present in their vehicle during the tragedy. Nicolas was placed in preventive detention in the prison of Nivelles following the incident. Although the Walloon Brabant prosecutor’s office characterized the motive as a “financial problem,” the investigation is currently ongoing.

In an interview with the police, Nicolas denied the incident’s sole cause to be money-related. He revealed that the tragedy was caused by the ruined relationship between him and his father, caused by Baroness Myriam’s interference. Nicolas felt that he and his siblings – two brothers and a sister – were neglected, and the baroness’s biological children, Gilles and Virginies, monopolized the family’s resources. He was shocked that Gilles had a duplex in Rome and that Virginies’s partner suddenly had the hunting lodge in South Africa. He was also displeased with Virginies’s frequent family villa visits in Saint-Tropez, on the Dragon Rouge, and the baron’s chalet in Gstaad. These were all places where Nicolas felt unwelcome.

Nicolas felt ignored, misunderstood, and undesirable due to the baroness’s actions, resulting in his relationship with his father being severely damaged. While recognizing that his father helped him and his siblings financially, Nicolas felt that it was not enough compared to what the baroness offered her children. Nicolas’s lawyer did not comment on the matter, but sources have confirmed that Baron Ullens did take care of his children’s financial needs, although the actual figures were never disclosed. Nicolas, a former State Security agent, had been struggling with a sense of injustice, leading to his drastic actions. He remains in custody.

On March 29, Nicolas Ullens, 57, shot six times at his stepmother, Baroness Myriam Ullens, 70, fatally hitting her four times. Nicolas Ullens’ father, Baron Guy Ullens, was also present on the day of the tragedy, alongside his wife in their vehicle. The facts took place around 10 a.m., in front of the victim’s home in Ohain (Lasne).

Following these facts, Nicolas Ullens was placed in preventive detention in the prison of Nivelles. If the Walloon Brabant prosecutor’s office qualified the mobile as a “financial problem”, the investigation is continuing. Our colleagues from HLN report this Thursday the remarks made by Nicolas Ullens when he was questioned by the police. He explained that the drama was not just regarding money. “Elle [Myriam, NDLR] destroyed my close relationship with my father. I suffered a lot”confided Nicolas Ullens.

The 50-year-old returned to the fact that Myriam’s two biological children (Gilles and Virginies) monopolized too large a share of “their cake”, to the detriment of his two brothers, his sister and himself, who were disadvantaged. “Why did Gilles have this duplex in Rome? And why did the hunting lodge in South Africa so suddenly pass into the hands of Virginie’s husband?” Asked Nicolas Ullens. But that’s not all, he also wondered why Virginie had fun so often with her family in the family villa in Saint-Tropez, on the Dragon Rouge (a 52-meter sailboat which is rented today for more than 200 000 euros per week) or in the baron’s chalet in Gstaad, in the Swiss Alps. “So many places where we weren’t welcome”he said, including his brothers and his sister.

Nicolas Ullens, who shot Baroness Myriam Ullens, should remain in custody: “It would have been in bad taste to plead anything”

To the investigators, Nicolas Ullens once more repeated that he felt neglected, ignored, misunderstood and even undesirable. Before Myriam entered family life, he states that he had a close relationship with his father. But things then changed and the actions of Myriam, his “wicked stepmother” as he called her, resulted in the baron’s four children being treated like second-class children. “With her greed for money, she made sure that the relationship with my father was completely blurred. I suffered a lot from it”he explained.

If Nicolas Ullens recognizes that his father helped him, his brothers and his sister, he believes that it was not enough. “Their children [à Myriam, NDLR] have everything. And I only get 50,000 euros a month…” His lawyer, however, declined to comment on the matter. Members of the entourage have nevertheless confirmed that Baron Ullens took good care of his own children on the material level, without revealing the true amounts.

Nicolas Ullens, a former State Security agent plagued by the feeling of injustice, to the point of killing

The tragic shooting of Baroness Myriam Ullens has rocked the community and left many people questioning what might have led to such a horrific act. Nicolas Ullens’ claims of neglect and mistreatment by his stepmother certainly shed light on the kind of family dynamics that may have contributed to the tragedy. However, regardless of any underlying issues, there can be no justification for taking another person’s life. Our thoughts and condolences go out to the Ullens family during this difficult time.
