TIME HOLD:Increasing student numbers are one of the reasons why Stidsholt – Nordjyllands Idrætsefterskole rumbles with construction plans. The school, located south of Sæby, has gone from 110 to 154 students in the past five years, so now there is a need for a new room wing like the one the school built in 2020.
In connection with the building plans, however, the school has come across quite a mess in connection with the local plan, as the school’s hall i.a. is built over two registers.
– The local plan is all the way back from the time of Sæby Municipality. We became aware of it when we had to build the new room wing in 2019-2020, so now a new local plan must be drawn up, says headmaster Andreas Ingerslev Larsen.

– And since a new local plan was now to be drawn up, we thought we had better think regarding what it is we really dream of, says Andreas Ingerslev Larsen.
Right now and here it is a new room wing, which would like to be able to be built next year, an exercise room and a storage room. But in the long term, there are also bigger dreams.
– We also dream of an extra hall, but that is not right now and here. And then we also have to renovate, because we have an old school, explains the headmaster, who states that the school has the money at home for the new bedroom wing.

How is it that you have gained so many more students?
– We have probably been good at running a school and have some talented teachers. We have probably also been more clear in our sports profile. From the summer of 2024, we will remove e-sports as a line and concentrate on the more classic sports. We think it attracts more students, says the principal.
At its meeting on 17 April, the Planning and Environment Committee in Frederikshavn Municipality must decide on the initiation of planning for an extension of the following-school, which will require an amendment to the local plan and an addendum to the municipal plan.
The administration considers that this is not such a significant change to the municipal plan that it requires a publication phase.
