What has been the hardest thing without Freddy?

“To be left without him, to know that this great human being is not available, that those calls no longer arrive. It has been a very difficult year. I had a therapy and it was that for me Freddy was traveling, so I didn’t see him dead; until a priest told me not to do that anymore because he was hurting me, to face reality. That is why I have begun to live that duel, because I did it traveling ”.

Of the memories you have, did you find any that caught your attention?

I always kept the press clippings and every time I look for something I find an article where they spoke well of him. But that causes pain, on the one hand they are good things, but on the other knowing that he is no longer there is very hard ”.

How did the illusion of giving your mother a house begin?

When I was in Santa Fe I sent money to my mom and it was kept here; when he calculated that there was to start workHe asked us to look for Don Casqueto, a man who lived near the house, so that he might start the work. That’s how it all started.”

Was giving the house to your mom one of your victories?

It was his greatest victory. The house was made of wood and there was a part that was already giving way. I remember that my older brother, Tomás Humberto, said that we should quote to fix that part. I collected some coins and went to Telecom to call Freddy. I told him what had happened and he told me clearly: “Tell Beto not to put anything else in the house, that he already did his part, now it’s my turn, that I’ll build it.” So it was. He made my mom’s house. Then, one December that came, he showed up with a sound system and that day the house was inaugurated with many friends present. In the end, he told my mom that he had fulfilled his promise.

Have you been to the accident site?

No, I only pass by there every time I go to the Camposanto to visit it… It is bitter when I go through that site. I’ve never stopped and I’m not going to.”

Did the investigation by the Prosecutor’s Office that determined that Freddy was driving the truck convince you?

“Honestly, I don’t know anything regarding that topic, or at least we brothers don’t know why they didn’t tell us anything once more. I don’t want to talk regarding it because it’s painful, I already lost my brother and no matter what they say or do, I’m not going to get him back. They say that the best justice is divine and in that I trust.

Do you think that Colombia paid you the tribute that Freddy Rincón deserved?

Not for me, because everything one heard and saw what Freddy did for the country… At least I have not seen it and if they have I did not find out. But the most important thing is that his family loves him; The pain that remained is very great and will never go away”
