Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment Fikri Ataoğlu attended the opening of the Istanbul – Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair (Emitt), which is among the top five tourism fairs in the world, where TRNC tourism is also marketed.
According to the information given by the Ministry, Emitt, located in the Istanbul TUYAP Fairground, will be open to visitors until April 15.
Pointing out that Emitt had 33.5 thousand visitors from 110 countries in 2022, it was stated that a record level of foreign visitors and tourism professionals are expected this year.

Fikri Ataogl aIn his speech at the opening, he stated that the biggest tourism market of the TRNC is Turkey and that they have done a comprehensive study for Emitt this year.
Explaining that there are no direct flights to the TRNC due to the embargo applied, and that the planes have to land in Turkey before arriving in the TRNC, Ataoğlu said that only Turkish Airlines, Pegasus and Anadolu Jet planes landed in the TRNC and that the ticket prices were high. He noted that they expect the prices to be cheaper thanks to the new airline established.
Noting that they made better preparations this year together with the representatives of the tourism sector in order to give priority to Northern Cyprus at the fair, Ataoğlu said that advertisements and promotions were not given much importance in Turkey in the past years, they now carry out an important campaign in Turkey and the benefits of this will be seen in the coming months. He said he would see.
Expressing that they have a very good cooperation with the Minister of Culture and Tourism of Turkey, Mehmet Nuri Ersoy, Ataoğlu stated that they shot a new promotional film with the support of Turkey this year, and that these films were broadcast in Russia, Germany and England, including Turkey.
Stating that he will meet with many agencies and tour operators at the Emitt Fair, Ataoğlu emphasized that the cooperation agreements to be made here are very important for the country’s tourism.
Ataoğlu pointed out that they brought together many agencies and tour operators from Northern Cyprus and Turkey at the Fair.
