From recovery to consecration, the airline Corsair has made a leap. On April 6, in front of an audience of travel professionals and personalities, it received a Travel d’Or, general public prize for the best French airline.
Three years following its takeover and restructuring, the company Corsair was crowned best French airline thanks to the votes of some 200,000 Internet users as well as the votes of a jury made up of tourism and transport professionals.
Pascal de Izaguirre, its Chairman and CEO gave a speech of thanks in front of an audience of 500 travel professionals as well as several French and foreign politicians.
I am particularly proud of all of Corsair’s teams, our crews and all of the ground crews, whose efforts have been acclaimed by our customers and distribution partners. It’s a great reward that reflects the quality of our offer and our service throughout the customer journey.
This prize also rewards the investments made in recent years to renew the fleet. In 2021 and 2022, Corsair has ordered and received five A330neos and expects four more by 2024. Apart from the fact that these aircraft offer a better cabin travel experience, they guarantee very good energy performance by reducing 25% fuel consumption and CO2 emissions per seat.
In less than three years, the Corsair company has gone from a quasi-dying company to a competitive airline faced with formidable competitors on overseas rotations (Air France / Air Caraïbes). A success ensured by a restructuring and a refresh of its branding.
As a reminder, Corsair now belongs to a consortium of around fifteen West Indian investors to which the German groups Intro Aviation and TUI have sold all of their capital stakes. The buyers (Corsair, State and consortium) mobilized an envelope of 300 million euros to put the company back on track.
