The Ramadan series “Under Guardianship,” which is being shown in Egypt, sparked controversy over the status of dealing with the widow, and prompted a parliamentary call to cancel the confinement council.
When Hanan, who embodies the role of a widow and a mother of two children, went to the bank to issue a savings certificate for her orphan child, the responsible employee refused, claiming that a certificate from the “Al-Hasabi Council” was not available, so that the journey of suffering of the character, played by the artist Mona Zaki, began with the system of the “Al-Hasabi Council”. in Egypt.
Dr. Rania Al-Jazairli, a member of the Egyptian Parliament, initiated a proposal to Counselor Hanafi Jabali, Speaker of the Egyptian Parliament, as well as Counselor Omar Marwan, Minister of Justice, calling for a review of the “Husbi Council” system that imposes guardianship on a widowed mother regarding the disposal of her children’s inheritance. And the accompanying obstacles make life difficult for the widow.
Al-Jazairly expressed her hope that “the dramatic work (Under Guardianship) will contribute to shedding light on the suffering of the widow and orphaned children because of this law.”
And the “Hospiary Council” system refers to the law on guardianship of minors’ funds, and states that “a widowed mother does not have the right to guardianship, and direct disposal of the funds of her children who have not reached the age of majority (21 years according to the law), while financial guardianship devolves following the death of the father by association To the grandfather and then to the uncle, and in the event that the mother wishes to transfer financial guardianship to her, she must first submit to the (Al-Husabi Council) a request for guardianship that may be hindered by the lack of desire of the grandfather and the uncle.
