The authorities of the Commune announced on their Facebook page the schedule for the tribute to be given to an individual. The schedule included a moment of silence planned at 9 am, followed by an official and public ceremony at 10 am, and then a cremation at 1 pm. To give the municipal staff a chance to participate in the tributes, the College has decided to close both the municipal administration and the library on Monday, April 17th.
On the Commune’s Facebook page, the authorities revealed the following details:
– 9 am: gathering on the Place du Chapitre in Thuin for a short silent tribute.
– 10 a.m.: official and public ceremony in the Salle de la Carrosserie at the Abbaye d’Aulne (Rue Emile Vandervelde, 275).
– 1 p.m.: cremation at the Gilly crematorium (rue des Nutons, 329).
Aware of the strong emotion aroused by his departure and in order to allow municipal staff to attend the various planned tributes, the College has decided to close the municipal administration and the library on Monday April 17 for the whole day.
As the community mourns the loss of their mayor, they have planned a series of tributes to honor his life and service. From a silent gathering in the morning to a public ceremony and cremation, the events are meant to bring closure and honor the mayor’s memory. The municipality has also decided to close the administration and library for the day to enable staff to attend the tributes. Our hearts go out to the family, friends, and colleagues of the late mayor during this difficult time.
