Caracas.- A case of triple femicide dismay Ecuador. Three women were murdered and buried in the Esmeraldas River, located in the city of Quinindé. The victims were identified as Nayeli Tapia, Yualiana Macías and Denisse Reyna, all three died with their throats cut. The last time they were seen alive they were out on the beach with some friends.

Some fishermen who were fishing along the river noticed that a dog was sniffing the land, a place from where a fetid odor was emanating. They notified the authorities and the Quinindé Police appeared at the site. Officials searched the area and found three bodies with their hands tied and their mouths covered.

According to the police report, the women, between 19 and 23 years old, had evidence of mistreatment and torture.

The police presume that the young they were murdered elsewhere and subsequently they were transferred to the Esmeraldas possibly by boatsince access by vehicles is difficult, because the tributary is one kilometer away from the highway.

The person in charge of the district command of the Quinindé Police, Diego Velasteguí, commented that the victims they wore light clothing and bathing suits.

Relatives of the murdered girls demand justice and clarification of the case from the police authorities. The State Attorney General’s Office reported the activation of an investigation protocol for femicides and other violent deaths of women and girls to find those responsible for the triple crime.
