Brazilian immigrants have invested in many sectors, making significant contributions to the US economy. According to Business Insider, Brazilians are one of the largest foreign investors in the United States. In 2022, Brazilian investments in the US totaled over $54 billion, making Brazil the 9th largest source of foreign direct investment in the US. Most Brazilian investments in the United States are focused on businesses that offer high return and growth potential.
Recent data from the US Department of Commerce and the National Association of Realtors reveal that Brazilian investors have become the foreign population that most invests in the US.
According to the National Association of Realtors (NAR), Brazilians invested more than $14 billion in US real estate last year alone, a staggering 125% year-on-year increase. The state of Florida received the most of this investment, followed by New York, California and Texas.
For Lucio Santana, Brazilian, businessman and CEO of Royal Mortgage USA, there are some reasons for the increase of Brazilian investments in the USA. “An important factor is the favorable exchange rate between the Brazilian real and the US dollar. In addition, Brazil’s economy has experienced some instability in recent years, leading Brazilians to seek investment opportunities abroad”
In conclusion, Lucio adds: “It is no surprise that Brazilian investors are turning to the United States for investment opportunities. The US economy is strong and stable, and the housing market continues to offer high returns on investment for foreign buyers.”
