Interjet has a debt of 300 million pesos with travel agencies, which will be “complicated to recover”

Interjet has not only announced its bankruptcy, the Mexican Federation of Tourist Associations (Fematur) stated that the airline has a debt of 300 million pesos to travel agencies, which will be “complicated to recover.”

Jorge Hernandezpresident of Fematur, explained that in this scenario the company assets aviation will not be enough to pay the creditors. Since, by law, the workers are first on the list to whom they are owed pay; to later continue with the other companies, in case of excess money.

However, Hernández commented that in all that time have not received support of the governmental authorities to recover the amount owed.

In addition, he stated that these debts have meant a problem for the travel agencysince it hits your finance and generates imbalance.

Likewise, he explained that of the 300 million pesos in Passives by Interjetthere were several tourist companies found themselves in danger of close their operations.

He also recalled the case of Aeromarwhich stopped operating in 2023, leaving debts of 120 million pesos to travel agencies.

During the followingnoon of Monday, April 10, the Second District Judge in Business Insolvency Matters of Mexico City, declared the airline Interjet bankrupt, ordering the auction of all its assets to comply with the settlement of its workers.

It was last August 2022 when Interjet entered the commercial bankruptcy, because it was for more than a year and a half without carrying out operations.
