With iOS/iPadOS 16.4, the Apple introduced a limitation on the possibility to install beta versions of your systems. iOS now checks whether the Apple ID used to log in is registered with any testing program (either the public one, or the developer-oriented one), automatically displaying the update to registered users.
According to 9to5Macthis change is also present in the latest beta versions of macOS 13.4 It’s from watchOS 9.5. Previously, anyone might install any beta version, as long as they had the profile for the system they wanted. In the future, regular users will not be able to install developer versions, for example.
In this way, an option is now displayed in the “Software Update” area, in the settingsto enable installation of beta versions if you are registered in a testing program.
