An accident involving two trucks in the Niedernhart tunnel on Tuesday had massive effects on Linz’s main A7 artery: Shortly before 10 a.m., a 56-year-old from the Salzburg area was driving his truck south on the A7 Mühlkreisautobahn when he arrived shortly following the entrance According to his own statements, he also had to brake fully in the Niedernhart tunnel in the city of Linz because of vehicles braking in front of him.
A following driver from the Kirchdorf district might no longer prevent a rear-end collision with his semi-trailer truck, despite emergency braking. The 36-year-old suffered minor injuries and was taken to the accident hospital in Linz by ambulance.
The effects on traffic were corresponding: the A7 might only be crossed in one lane in the area of the accident site, and there was a massive traffic jam. A detour route was set up, but various access roads to the A7 heading south were completely closed until 11:30 a.m.
