(Ecofin Agency) – At the beginning of April 2023, BW Energy revealed the completion of the drilling work for the DHIBM-3H well, located on the Hibiscus/Ruche perimeter of the Gabonese offshore concession of Dussafu. Commissioning of the site was to follow.

The oil company BW Energy announced on Monday (April 10th) that it has started production of black gold on the Hibiscus/Ruche oil field of the Dussafu license, located in the territorial waters of Gabon. According to Carl K. Arnet, CEO of BW Energy, the operation “represents the first of several steps on the road to successive production growth in Gabon”.

According to details provided by the company, the site delivers a constant initial production of approximately 6,000 bpd. A total which, according to forecasts, might reach a plateau of at least 30,000 b/d by 2024, once the work relating to phase 1 of the perimeter development plan has been completed. As part of the latter, it is notably planned to continue the drilling campaign, launched on the field, at the start of the year with 6 new wells.

“Our priority now is to complete start-up activities and stabilize production from the DHIBM-3H well. In parallel, work is progressing towards the start-up of the new gas-lift compressor to support production from the six existing Tortue wells, while progressing with the drilling of the next Hibiscus/Ruche producing wells as planned.”said Carl K.
