Under normal circumstances, manufacturers will improve existing functions when launching new mobile phones. Some manufacturers have pushed the power of wireless charging to 50W. Even Apple has increased the power from 7.5W, which has remained unchanged for many years, to 50W when the iPhone 14 Pro is launched. 15W, the Galaxy S23 has disappointed some users by maintaining the 15W wireless charging power of the previous generation. However, some foreign websites have conducted actual measurements recently and found that the situation may be worse than imagined.
S23 wireless charging has limitations
According to the official announcement, the 15W wireless charging power is limited to Samsung original accessories, and the use of third-party wireless charging pads will only get a maximum power of 10W. When the website PhoneArena tested the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the original wireless charging pad earlier, it found that the Galaxy S22 Ultra charged much faster with the same built-in 5,000mAh battery and 15W wireless charging strategy.
Takes longer than S22 Ultra
According to the information published by PhoneArena, in the first 15 minutes of charging, the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra charged 23% and 14%, respectively, 36% and 24% in 30 minutes, and 53% and 45% following 1 hour. In the end, the S22 Ultra was fully charged to 100% in 1 hour and 58 minutes, but the S23 Ultra took 2 hours and 37 minutes, a full 40 minutes more.
The flagship with the slowest wireless charging
Since both phones were tested with Samsung’s original EP-P2400 15W wireless charging pad, it means that the S23 Ultra may limit the wireless charging power, and the specific reason is unknown. SamMobile, a website that specializes in reporting Samsung product information, estimates that it is related to reducing heat and improving battery health, but believes that the new machine has a better heat dissipation system, and the charging speed is slower than the previous generation, which is disappointing. It also pointed out that the wireless charging time is longer than the iPhone 14 Pro. This Samsung flagship is expected to be the slowest flagship model currently charging.
