A 62-year-old from Tennengau suffered serious injuries in a leisure accident in Obertraun (district of Gmunden, Upper Austria) on Easter Monday.
According to the police report, a family from Tennengau went on a trip to Obertraun on Easter Monday. Grandparents, parents and children hiked from the Obertraun lido along the Ostufer hiking trail to the Hallstatt train station.
There, the 62-year-old climbed a rock face with his six-year-old grandson, which was right next to the hiking trail. At around 4 p.m., a stone came loose at a height of regarding five meters, causing the 62-year-old to fall and lie directly in front of the family.
The grandfather suffered serious injuries to his upper body and was given first aid by his relatives. However, the alarmed Red Cross might not drive the vehicle to the scene of the accident and called the emergency helicopter “Christophorus 99” for support. He was able to pick up the seriously injured man from the scene of the accident using a rope and, following a stopover, deliver him to a hospital in Salzburg. The six-year-old was unharmed.
