“Audi A4 driver sustains serious injuries and car completely wrecked following reckless race”

The Wallonia Picardy emergency services were notified of a road accident on the road from Valenciennes to Ormeignies in Ath around 5:30 a.m. Responding to the call were an extrication vehicle, a beaconing truck, an ambulance, an SMUR, and a command vehicle dispatched from Ath and Rebaix barracks. The driver lost control, hit the shoulder, collided with two trees on the right side, made a U-turn and hit a third tree on the other side. The vehicle ended up wrecked in a field. Lieutenant Eric Stasik, who led the intervention, explained that the driver was conscious but complained of severe back and hip pain. Extrication was delicate and prolonged, necessitating a rigid corset to safeguard the spine. The victim, who was alone in the car, was taken to the Epicura center of the Ath clinic and treated for serious injuries. Rescuers were at the scene for almost two hours.

The driver “lost control of his car, bit the shoulder, then hit two trees with his right side. The vehicle made a U-turn, then struck a third tree on the other side of the road. The driver, alone on board, was then taken care of by emergency workers, ”says the officer. Seriously injured, the victim was admitted to the Epicura center of the Ath clinic.
