It has been more than a month now that the energy unions voted for a renewable strike. While there is only one refinery left, that of TotalEnergies in Normandy, the gas and electricians, they want to go as far as the withdrawal of the text of the pension reform.
On March 7, more than a month ago, the energy unions voted for a renewable strike. For more than 30 days, some employees have been on strike relentlessly, at the risk of getting tired, and not being paid. Only one refinery remains shut down, that of TotalEnergies in Normandy. But on the side of the gas and electricians, we want to go so far as to withdraw the text of the pension reform. So to hold up over time, the movement is reorganizing.
“Not everyone can keep going”
To hold on, you have to save your strength. Because the more than 30 days of renewable strike have tired the troops recalls Fabrice Coudour, federal secretary of the FNME CGT. “Going on strike for a month is long and above all hard. Sometimes it’s in special conditions outside, like sleeping outside, under canvas tents or even manning site entrances. Not everyone can hold continuously. There are people who today may be less on strike but on the other hand contribute from a financial point of view”, he indicates at the microphone of Europe 1.
So the CGT, leader of the movement in energy, wants to concentrate efforts on strategic sites. Like the Grand Maison hydroelectric power station in Isère, or the Storengy gas storage facilities, the subsidiary of Engie. Faced with these blockages, which have already led to reductions in electricity production, RTE, the network manager is sometimes obliged to intervene. This might happen once more during the 12th day of mobilization scheduled for April 13.
