Viracopos International Airport, in Campinas (SP), received a special visitor who brought a 31-ton piece. The Ilyushin Il-76 cargo aircraft, from the Silk Way Airlines airline, from Azerbaijan, landed last night (03/21), carrying a compressor for the oil and gas industry.
The Ilyushin Il-76 is a Soviet aircraft developed by Ilyushin in the mid-1960s when the Soviet Air Force requested the development of a jet freighter aircraft to replace the Antonov An-12. The aircraft is 47m long, has a wingspan of 50m and its maximum speed is 850 km/h.
Despite landing in Viracopos last night, the unloading of the piece began today (03/22), at 10am. A special operation was required on the apron, with the direct involvement of at least 20 people.
Three vehicles were needed to carry out the unloading operation, a crane, a six-axle trailer and a regular trailer.
The cargo (and the entire support structure/frame and wood) was unloaded onto the six-axle trailer, using the aircraft’s internal winch. Still in the yard, the load was removed from the six-axle trailer using the crane and placed on the common transport trailer.
