He went on to become a columnist, senior reporter, and editor-in-chief of the weekly “Maroc Hebdo international” before launching “Aujourd’hui Le Maroc,” a general French-language daily in 2000. Khalil was also the President of the Jury for the Grand Prix National de la Presse in 2007 and was elected as the President of the Moroccan Federation of Newspaper Publishers in 2008 and 2011. He authored several publications, including the “Billets Bleus” Moroccan chronicles 1994-2000.

The funeral of the late Khalil Hachimi Idrissi, Director General of the Maghreb Arab Press Agency and former columnist and editor-in-chief of Maroc Hebdo, took place this Sunday, April 9, 2023 at the Chouhada cemetery in Rabat, in the presence of his relatives, as well as several personalities from the world of politics, media and culture.
Died on Saturday at the age of 67 following a long battle with illness, the deceased was laid to rest following Addohr’s prayers.
Intellectual, man of letters and renowned journalist, the late Khalil Hachimi Idrissi made the Moroccan Press Agency, in the space of 12 years, one of the main manifestations of the national media scene and a public pole of information with a rich and diversified production.
Since 2011, the date of his appointment by HM King Mohammed VI as head of MAP, the deceased has continued to multiply initiatives and launch innovative and colossal projects that have completely changed the face of MAP and gave it the brilliance and radiance it currently enjoys in its Arab and African environment.
The death of the former editor-in-chief of Maroc Hebdo and founder of the daily Today Morocco, who was a model of rigor and a fine connoisseur of the history and political mysteries of Morocco, is a great loss for the landscape national media and the world of arts and culture.

A graduate of the 3rd cycle of the Institute of Geography at the University of Paris I-Pantheon-Sorbonne, he was a columnist, senior reporter and then editor-in-chief for many years of the weekly “Maroc Hebdo international” before creating, in the year 2000, “Aujourd’hui Le Maroc”, a general French-language daily.
In 2007, he was President of the jury for the Grand Prix National de la Presse before being elected, in 2008, President of the FMEJ (Moroccan Federation of Newspaper Publishers), a position to which he was re-elected in 2011.
The late Khalil Hachimi Idrissi has several publications to his credit, including the “Billets Bleus” Moroccan chronicles 1994-2000.
