The Christian community commemorates this Sunday April 09 the feast of Easter, a central event of the Christian faith which is the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

This event is seen by Christians as the fulfillment of biblical prophecy of a messiah risen from the dead offering his followers eternal life.

On the occasion of this celebration, the Head of State Faure Gnassingbé wished a happy Easter celebration to all Christians in Togo.

“May this time of renewal and joy also be one that consolidates fraternity and solidarity as ferments of cohesion and peace”, he wished.

Easter is generally marked by religious services and praises in the various Christian communities. It commemorates the resurrection of Jesus. The solemnity, preceded by Holy Week (the last part of Lent) begins the night before Easter Sunday, with the Easter Vigil.
