Snow Monjaro – Autoreview

Geely Monjaro, almost Kilimanjaro. Much easier to pronounce than the Geely Xingyue L, as this crossover is called at home, in China. But will the “volcano” Monjaro in Russia become as popular as the Skoda Kodiaq?

ISo, get acquainted – the flagship of the Geely lineup. Built on the same CMA (Compact Modular Architecture) platform as the Tugella coupe-crossover sold in Russia for the third year already, and with the same two-liter turbo engine of the JLH-4G20TDB series with a capacity of 238 hp, an eight-speed Aisin automatic transmission and a clutch BorgWarner in rear wheel drive. By the way, a front-wheel drive 218-horsepower version with a robotic gearbox and a rechargeable hybrid are available in China – they are also found here, but only thanks to parallel imports.

“Automatic” off-road inspires more confidence than the Skoda “robot”, although both transmissions in heavy spring snow were not seen to overheat

The main difference between the official Monjaro and the “gray” Xingyue L is that heating is provided not only for the front seats, but also for the rear sofa (and with backs!), Steering wheel, windshield and washer nozzles. Moreover, through the menu, you can configure the automatic activation of the steering wheel heating and the time interval for the operation of seat heating. And all this without knowledge of Chinese: all sections of the menu are Russified.

Another difference is the additional anti-corrosion protection of the body. And of course, where without the ERA-GLONASS system.

The chip key is the same as the Tugella, with a remote start button. I tried – it works. But with keyless access, leapfrog: it works, then it stops. And with the contactless trunk release, I had the same problems. You approach the rear bumper – the turn signals start flashing. So, you need to take a step back, and the fifth door will rise smoothly. I step back and wait, but nothing happens. He poked back and forth five times, spat, put down his luggage, took out a key chain from his pocket – and in the old fashioned way, with a button.
