Destined to be cut by the Jazz, Russell Westbrook would have been in contact with Miami. But the Florida franchise would obviously be ready to pass, because it would have two players in particular in its sights. Fans aren’t convinced…
He may have had a complicated time at the Lakers, Russell Westbrook remains an ex-MVP capable of chewing triple-doubles. So, it’s no surprise that several teams are noted as interested in him now that he should conclude a buy-out with Utah in the coming days. One track notably sent him to the Heat where he might help train a pretty crazy death five.
Imagine him playing alongside Jimmy Butler in particular, this is a rather interesting prospect. Except here, the latest rumors are not to reassure regarding it and South Beach executives seem inclined not to follow through, ultimately. Instead, Pat Riley would have set his sights on two other candidates, which gives an idea of the strategy pursued by the 2020 finalist:
Miami wants to strengthen its racket rather than lead it
Have been told Heat are prioritizing something big over Westbrook or Beverley, following examining those options. So Love or Ibaka appear to be priorities. As of now.

I was told Heat would prioritize an inside over Westbrook or Beverley, following looking at those options. Love or Ibaka seem to be priorities right now.
The case of K-Love had already been mentioned following the announcement of his buy-out from the Cavs, while Ibaka seems at the end of the race at the Bucks. The names are certainly high-sounding, but is it really better to target them rather than the Brodie? Because despite the last few months which have been hard for him, the leader has shown much more than his two peers. Local supporters do not hide their disappointment with this announcement:
Honestly we can’t blame Jimmy if he asks for a trade ????

Honestly, you can’t blame Butler if he asks for a trade
The Heat have been confused as an organization for years.

The Heat have been lost as an organization for years.
Rather than recruiting a Russell Westbrook, the Heat would be more willing to explore the trail of a new big man. A risky move given the names mentioned, certainly accomplished players but who are only a shadow of themselves…
