The Italian former player Marco Materazzihas finally revealed what he said to the French player Zinedine Zidanand during the Final of the World Cup in Germany 2006which ended with Zidane’s famous header and his subsequent expulsion from the match.
In a recent interview with Italian Football TV, Materazzi confessed that Zidane offered him his shirt, to which he replied: “No, I prefer your sister.”
The tension between the two players had been building throughout the match, finally coming to a head when Zidane lost his temper and headbutted Materazzi. The incident became one of the most iconic moments in football history, with the French team losing the match and thus the world title.
In a previous interview with The team, Zidane had spoken regarding the incident and confirmed that Materazzi had not insulted his mother, as previously rumored, but rather his sister. Zidane explained that his mother was very tired that day and she had been talking to her sister several times a day, so the insult to her sister was especially painful.
Materazzi’s revelation has generated a great deal of controversy in the world of football, with many fans surprised by the level of provocation that occurred in the match.
