Building collapsed in the center of Marseille

A building collapsed in the center of Marseille on Sunday night. The incident happened on Rue Tivoli in the fifth arrondissement, as the mayor of the southern French port city, Benoît Payan, announced on Twitter. Police and fire brigade were therefore on the spot. Nothing was initially known regarding possible victims of the accident.

Unconfirmed reports of an explosion circulated on social media. Images and videos posted by users showed a building in ruins. Mayor Payan called for people to avoid the area.
