Outage management: Balarama Holness accuses Hydro-Québec of neglecting the “West Island”

Blackouts caused by the ice storm have affected many sectors, especially in Montreal, and Hydro-Quebec is working hard to restore power to all its customers, but now the English-speaking political figure, Balarama Holness, accuses the company of state to neglect the ‘West Island’.

“I am troubled by the fact that Hydro-Quebec has not yet provided support to the West Island. It is important that they address this problem and provide an explanation,” he wrote in a tweet accompanied by a photo of the Hydro-Quebec map which only shows the situation in West Montreal.

Quickly, people started to react on Twitter pointing out that other sectors are also affected by outages and reminding that the Crown corporation prioritizes outages that affect a greater number of customers.

However, you should know that the sectors with more vegetation were more affected by the outages, which may explain why things seem to be progressing more slowly than elsewhere.

“No sector has been forgotten. The west of the island has not been forgotten,” said Maxence Huard-Lefebvre, spokesperson for Hydro-Québec.
