A 20-year-old man said goodbye to his friend at St-Légier-Village VD train station on Saturday morning and tragically lost his life following being hit by a train. Despite attempts to revive him, he died at the scene of the accident. The victim was an English citizen residing in the canton of Valais. Witnesses immediately called the emergency services, and a large contingent of the Gendarmerie vaudoise, Association Sécurité Riviera (ASR), Criminal Police Brigade, ambulance from the 144, SMUR, and Emergency Support Team (ESU) were involved in this tragic incident. Early Saturday morning, just before 1 a.m., a 20-year-old man was hit by a train traveling on the Vevey-Blonay route. This had just left the station of St-Légier-Village. The victim died at the scene of the accident, according to the Vaud cantonal police.

According to initial findings, the victim is said to have walked alongside the train to say goodbye to a friend. “At some point he lost his balance and fell between the platform and the tracks,” writes the Vaud canton police. Then he became caught by the train.

Witnesses immediately called the emergency services. Despite prompt treatment and attempts at resuscitation, the young man did not survive died on the spot. It was a 20-year-old English citizen residing in the canton of Valais.

The public prosecutor’s office was informed and the public prosecutor on duty launched an investigation. The accident required the deployment of several patrols from the Gendarmerie vaudoise and the Association Sécurité Riviera (ASR), the Criminal Police Brigade, an ambulance from the 144, the SMUR and the Emergency Support Team (ESU).
