The spouse implicated in the Gangnam kidnapping and murder has been apprehended.

Mr. Yoo, accused of kidnapping and murder in Gangnam, Seoul, was arrested yesterday along with his wife, Mrs. Hwang, who was also arrested this morning by the police. The couple is suspected of paying to have the victim killed. Reporter Lee Dong-kyung provides the details; Mr. Yoo, identified as the mastermind behind the crime, was arrested following two days in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province. His wife, Mrs. Hwang, was also arrested on suspicion of instigating robbery and murder, including attempts to destroy evidence. This led to the arrest of six suspects, including Mr. Lee, who participated in the crime conspiracy.
The police believe that the couple paid the main culprit, Lee Kyung-woo, to kidnap and kill the victim, Choi. In 2021, Lee received 40 million won from the Yoo couple on two occasions, and immediately following the crime, he demanded 60 million won, which police see as a deposit and success fee related to this crime, respectively. The police believe that the Yoo couple had been engaged in a lawsuit in the process of investing in coins with Mr. Choi, who died, and the relationship deteriorated, leading to the kidnapping and murder.

According to the report, Mr. Yoo said, “(Mr. Choi) has evidence that he has done it all. I was patient, but now it’s completely over the top.” Mrs. Hwang said, “Because I can kill you anytime. If I were really 10 years younger, I would have already set it on fire.” The police plan to send the three main criminals who were arrested earlier to the prosecution tomorrow and investigate the motive and timing of the crime once morest the couple.
