As the reader or reader finds a page, comes to a story, is going to take a trip, in time, through places, as often happens with good books.

In the prologue, Luz Mary Giraldo explains a little regarding the meaning of this title and the relationship with the verb to count: “the title is clear: ‘Women who tell, that is, women who narrate and exist, willing to transmit their respective views of reality. Women aware of the power of the word. Nothing more opportune and necessary than to give presence to that diversity of female voices that know how to name themselves and recognize the time and the world to which they belong. Voices of women with the gift of the thinking and creative word in times of perplexity”.

About 8M and to affirm the voices

This book was published on March 8, the day for women’s rights. It is part of the Confiar Entre Iguales gender policy and the Trusting Women Program. During its 50 years of creation, this cooperative has believed in “equality expressed in the participation of women, in different fields, in the links and alliances with feminist organizations.” For this reason, it seeks to create scenarios to claim the rights and voices of women.

Regarding this publication, Marco Mejía, editor of the Confiar en la Cultura editorial line, speaks: “traditionally, in the anthologies of Confiar stories, stories from universal literature were selected, this time we wanted to give priority to Colombian authors of different generations. Let’s remember that women for centuries might not sign the writings with their names, this is an opportunity to claim their voices on different issues. In the anthology you will be able to find stories of the women who paved the way in Colombia, so that many more can write today”.

“I imagine that I have the strength to walk, open the window, stand on the terrace wall and jump. I imagine that I fall and that I hit the floor and that the floor is not cement but water. I sink and it is a pool of dark tiles and my legs no longer weigh. I hear the door of the house open. I open my eyes, look at her and tell her: “Calm down Susi, I’m not going to let you fall”. Apart from “Letting fall”, written by Juliana Restrepo, one of the authors of this book.
