Sophie Douce, correspondent of the “World” expelled from Burkina Faso, answers your questions

how was the eviction procedure?

NO

This expulsion was notified to me orally by a police lieutenant from the State Security Directorate, the Burkinabe intelligence services, on Saturday 1is avril. “We have just notified you verbally that your accreditation and your press card have been cancelled. You have twenty-four hours to leave Burkina Faso”simply declared the lieutenant, in civilian clothes, at my home.

The day before, we had been summoned, with my colleague Agnès Faivre, the correspondent for Liberation, by this same lieutenant in the direction of state security. Received separately, we were questioned for regarding an hour, regarding our work, our travels and our sources.

Journalist Agnès Faivre was asked regarding an article published by Liberation, on March 27, on a video showing the extrajudicial execution of children and teenagers, in a military camp, in the north of the country. This investigation greatly displeased the authorities.

Le Monde has not investigated this video.
