Electrification of the country’s cities: the government in search of “suitable” solutions

The shedding of electricity in recent times across the country is of concern to the Guinean government. To remedy this, Bernard Goumou gave instructions to the minister in charge of energy.

This is a subject raised during the Council of Ministers held yesterday Thursday in Conakry. In order to provide electricity in normal times to towns in the interior of the country, Bernard Goumou instructed the Minister in charge of Energy “to do everything possible with the EDG (Electricité de Guinée) to find suitable solutions for the benefit of the populations while waiting for the finalization of the electrification and interconnection projects in our country”.

The Head of Government also invited Aly Saydouba Soumah, on the need to “intensify” communication with the populations on the power cuts caused by the works or any other factor.

Recently, several people, including the youth coordinator for the electrification of Upper Guinea, were arrested and tried in Kankan for having attended the demonstration once morest the power cut. In Labé, memoranda have also been filed with the town hall and the governorate in order to find solutions to this situation.
