The accused Shahrukh Saifi has been remanded in police custody for 11 days, while BA Alur is set to represent him.

On April 7, 2023, Shahrukh Saifi, the accused in the Elathur train arson case, was remanded in custody for 11 days by the Judicial First Class Magistrate in Kozhikode. The investigation team had requested for 14 days but the court granted 11 days. The police required more time to interrogate the suspect and gather evidence. They plan to take him to the places where the incident occurred and clarify various details, such as the purpose behind the act and whether he had any accomplices. Saifi claims that he acted alone, but the investigators are not entirely convinced. Lawyer BA Alur will represent him in the case. The NIA is also investigating the case, and a group from Bengaluru has arrived in Kozhikode to gather information.

Kozhikode: Elathur train arson case accused Shahrukh Saifi has been remanded in police custody for 11 days. He was remanded in custody by the Judicial First Class Magistrate. The investigation team asked for 14 days custody. However, the court remanded him in custody for 11 days.

The investigation team demanded maximum days in custody for detailed questioning. The police demanded that the evidence brought to the train bogie in Kannur should be taken and that time is needed for the interrogation. Then he was released in custody for 11 days. The accused was taken to the Malur Hill police camp for questioning

The main thing for the police to do now is to interrogate the suspect and take him for evidence. He needs to be taken to the places where the bogie is parked in Kannur, Elathur station, the place where he bought petrol, etc. and take evidence.

From where he boarded the train, what was his purpose, whether there was someone else behind him and many other things need to be clarified. During interrogation, he says that no one has helped him at present. But the investigation team was not completely convinced.

It is reported that lawyer BA Alur will appear for Shahrukh Saif. Alur takes up the case on the suggestion of Shahrukh Faizi’s brother Fakhruddin.

Meanwhile, the NIA is on the way to gather information in the arson case. The group reached Kozhikode. DIG A group including Kali Raj Mahesh came to Kozhikode from Bengaluru. Shahrukh was earlier remanded for 14 days in the case. Later, following receiving the report of the medical board regarding the health condition of the accused, the police applied for custody.
