Like Briton Joe Turney (KR), who rode more in the United States than on the old continent before attacking the European Championship, while winning the Senior title in the IAME Winter Series, Matheus Morgatto followed a parallel path . OK World Champion in 2022 with a KR from the DPK Racing team, the Brazilian was recruited this winter by the Birel ART factory, which sent him across the Atlantic to tackle the Florida Winter Cup series in Rok Senior.
Morgatto didn’t fail in his task and he made it happen. From the opening in Tampa, west of Orlando on the Tropicana Field circuit, he won once morest Connor Zilish, winner of the FIA Karting Academy Trophy in 2020. The driver Birel Art continued his momentum by winning once more on the Piquet family resort north of Miami near West Palm Beach. He drove the point home in Orlando, logically winning the title. However, the Brazilian should not weaken, because a significant coefficient was applied to the points scored in this race, so that he might have been beaten on the wire.
Another Birel ART driver present in Florida, Marijn Kremers took advantage of this awarding of points to win the Championship in Shifter (KZ). The Dutchman had indeed abandoned during the first event, before winning the next two. Represented in the United States by the PSL Karting team, Birel ART had a successful campaign in this highly rated series.
The return to Europe was more difficult for Morgatto. Admittedly, he had not been able to participate in the preparation race (Champions of the Future Euro Series on the Valencia circuit), but his performance remained fairly long at the European Championship in Spain following his modest 55th time. As for Kremers, he will not participate in the Zuera event, but should probably be part of the technical staff of the Italian factory.
