Having health coverage can be a great challenge for immigrants and low-income families in New York.
However, New York City has a program that provides low-cost health insurance and health care regardless of your legal status.
The GetCovered NYC program is for people with the following characteristics:
- They are permanent residents (Green Card).
- Refugees or asylum seekers.
- Holder of U or T Visa.
- Employment authorization card holder.
- DACA recipients.
The authorities point out that the Applying for these benefits will not affect your eligibility to become a permanent resident or citizen.
Also you can call 311 for more information.
