Fake police cheated and stole 7 lakh dirhams; Four Asians jailed and fined in UAE

Abu Dhabi: The UAE court sentenced four Asians to prison in the incident of deceiving the employees and robbing a large amount of money from the shop. The accused arrived under the pretense of being the police and robbed the shop of 7 lakh dirhams. The court sentenced the accused to two years in prison. The court also decided to return the stolen amount to the complainant. The court ruled that it is sufficient for all four accused to return the looted amount together. The court has also ordered the deportation of the accused following serving the sentence. Dubai Criminal Court has issued a verdict in the case.

The owner of the electronic store where the robbery happened came forward with a complaint. The accused were arrested during the subsequent investigation. A four-member robbery team reached the complainant’s shop posing as CID officers. Then he threatened the employees of the shop and opened the safe where the money was kept. The robbers took 709,000 dirhams kept in the shop and left the place. The police registered a case on the shop owner’s complaint and started investigation following examining the CCTV footage and identified the accused.

The investigation team caught three of the accused from a nearby hotel. The amount stolen from the shop was recovered from them. Two of the accused are brothers. During the interrogation, the accused revealed that the shop had been subjected to surveillance days before the robbery.
