Regionalliga Salzburg: Bischofshofen takes goalie from archrival – Grödig continues to present newcomers

Because Pawel Kapsa ended his career at the age of 40 in the summer, Bischofshofen was last looking for a goalkeeper. And BSK boss Patrick Reiter found what he was looking for in arch-rival St. Johann: Manuel Wallinger will guard the BSK goal next season. Grödig’s squad is taking on more and more concrete forms.

Since moving from Kuchl to St. Johann in the summer of 2021, Manuel Wallinger has developed into one of the best regional league goalkeepers in Salzburg. The consistently strong performances of the 21-year-old from Pongauer did not go unnoticed by league rivals Bischofshofen. “With Manuel we have signed a goalkeeper who has all the requirements. He is one of the greatest talents and can make the leap into professional football through us,” explains Pawel Kapsa, who will work as a goalkeeping coach in Bischofshofen following retiring in the summer. Wallinger has signed a two-year contract with BSK with an option for a further year.

Grödig gets two more regional league kickers

While Bischofshofen already has its place in the Regionalliga West 2023/24 in its pocket, the ex-Bundesliga club Grödig has to start in the Salzburg league in the summer. Neo-coach Arsim Deliu, under whose leadership Grödig has improved significantly in the spring, has been working on his squad for the coming season for weeks and can already present the first new signings. After Manuel Krainz, who wants to attack once more following a cruciate ligament rupture in the summer, ex-professional Maximilian Karner (Golling) and noble technician Eugen Rexhepi (SAK) have already signed. “These three players should lead our young team. Karner is a very good central defender. Rexhepi has great potential and can create majority situations with his technique,” said Deliu, pleased regarding the signing of his dream player.
